José Antonio Morante Camacho, known artistically as Morante de la Puebla, is a Spanish bullfighter born in 1979, in La Puebla del Rio (Seville, ESP).
Date of birth: October 2, 1979 in La Puebla del Rio, Seville.
Public debut: His passion for bullfighting was incalculable, at the age of only five years old, he was in front of a calf for the first time in the local festivities of La Puebla del Rio.
Debut with picadors: José Antonio made his debut as a novillero on April 16, 1994 in a town with a great attachment to bullfighting. Specifically Guillena, Seville. He made his debut with bulls from the Joaquín Barral bull-ranch at the same time as his companions Francisco Barroso and Antonio Ignacio Vargas.
Alternative: Then he took the alternative on June 29, 1997 in Burgos. His godfather was César Rincón and as witness Fernando Cepeda. The bullfight was from the Juan Pedro Domecq bull-ranch, and the bull of his alternative was Guerrero. He cut an ear to each of his bulls showing his great talent for bullfighting. In the Maestranza of Seville he made his debut as matador on April 21, 1998 cutting two ears.
Confirmation alternative: He confirmed his alternative in the Plaza de Las Ventas on May 14, 1998 with Julio Aparicio as godfather and Manuel Diaz El Cordobes as witness. The bull of his alternative named Hospedero belonged to the cattle ranch of Sepúlveda y Yeltes.
